Coffeely

Privacy

Short version: an account holds your email, your name and what you have rated. Everything else we keep is about coffee, not about you.

If you have no account

We set one cookie holding a random identifier. It lets us count how many people searched, filtered or clicked through to a roaster without knowing who any of them are. It is not readable by scripts and is never joined to anything identifying.

If you do have an account

We store your email address, the name shown on your reviews, your ratings and favourites, and the taste profile derived from them. Your password is stored only as a bcrypt hash and cannot be read back by anyone, including us.

What we never store

Your IP address. Where we need to tell visitors apart — rate limiting, click records — we store a salted hash instead, and the salt is a secret, so the hash cannot be reversed.

Third parties

None for analytics. There is no advertising network, no tracking pixel and no social widget on this site. When you use the coffee advisor, the words you type are sent to Anthropic to interpret them; nothing about your account goes with them.

Leaving

Delete your account from your profile. Your email, name and taste profile are removed immediately and every session ends. Ratings you wrote stay on the coffees, with your name removed — otherwise the averages other people have already seen would change when you left.

Roaster content

Roasters are listed with their agreement, and each entry records when that agreement was given. If you are a roaster and want your products removed, tell us and we will.
